A good SEO strategy, like all the strategies we develop, starts with a comprehensive analysis, including the current state of the site, competitors, and the keywords they rank for in the top positions that might also be relevant to us. This allows us to assess our current situation with perspective.
It should also include a detailed plan outlining the tasks to be performed and the objectives to be achieved, both short- and long-term, with specific actions. When we talk about tasks, we mean content marketing and techniques that can help us, for example, achieve the results we’re looking for.
Local SEO
Local SEO is by far our favorite. As the name suggests, it involves ranking a page—which could be on one or more topics—in its local area. For example, to help this article rank in our area (the Dominican Republic), we’ve included keywords such as SEO Santo Domingo, SEO in the Dominican Republic, SEO Dominican Republic, SEO DR, among others.
With this small adjustment plus a well-executed internal linking strategy, we’ve been able to rank for many SEO-related keywords. In the near future (we may have already done so by the time you’re reading this), we’ll be working on slightly more ambitious keywords such as SEO specialist, SEO experts, the best Dominican SEO (haha, this one’s sure to cause a stir), SEO analyst, among others.
Remember that we don’t want to fall into the cardinal sin of keyword stuffing, which is nothing more than repeating a keyword a bunch of times in content hoping that Google will give you a better ranking and not penalize you (which is exactly what it ends up doing for this bad practice).
