A20 Arquitectos

A20 Arquitectos is an architectural design firm based in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

They came to us through one of our partners, Angel Melo of Los Ángeles studio.

At the start of the project, the founding partners of A20, Luis Sabater and Fernando Salcedo, Angel, and I had a meeting to see the new project they were working on.

It was a completely different design from the typical website. The vision was for the entire project to function like a portfolio of architectural plans. Angel was in charge of the desktop design, and we designed the mobile version and some other details.

In addition, they wanted it to be easy to manage and for the content to be easily changed by non-technical staff from an administration panel (WordPress in this case).

The main challenge here was how to create a seamless user experience, taking the user out of their comfort zone by requiring them to click to navigate through the completed projects instead of scrolling.

Performance also posed a challenge, since to create a good first impression of the page, we needed several high-quality images on initial load. Normally, we can load the other images lazily, but in this case, that could negatively impact the page’s visual appearance.

The mobile version had to be different. We couldn’t use the same format designed for the desktop version, so we had to conduct much more testing and write significantly more code.

For this website, we created a theme from scratch using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP at the agency’s request. They wanted the website to be as durable as possible and not depend on third-party plugins to function correctly.

After developing the desktop version, we began developing the mobile version. In this version, we not only had to reposition elements but also ensure that the styles used were different.

The testing phase of this project was longer than usual, since the behavior of the elements is customized; tests on all types of devices with different resolutions and operating systems had to be carried out to complete this website.

At the end of this process, we were pleased to deliver a fully functional and SEO-optimized website to our client, perfect for providing a unique and distinctive experience for their customers.
